A traditional Uzbek martial art similar to judo, adopted as an official event from the 2018 Asian Games

Yeungnam University's Judo Team (Director Lee Jung-hwa) won two gold medals in the 2022 Korea Kurash Federation national team selection competition.

Kim Ji-young (2nd year of Special Physical Education, female –70kg) and Hwang Ye-jin (3rd year of Physical Education, female –52kg) who participated in the national selection competition held at the Namgung Judo Hall in Cheongju on the 1st placed first. He was finally selected for the national team. They will participate in the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games to be held in China this year as the Kurash Korean national team.

​Kurash is a traditional Uzbekistan martial art that is similar to judo. It has been adopted as an official event since the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang.

Yeungnam University Judo team coach Lee Jung-hwa said, “I am proud of the athletes who worked hard in training and achieved good results. I would like to express my gratitude to the school officials, including President Choi Oe-chul and the Dean of Student Services Bo-Seo Seo, who have given their support and interest so that the athletes can train in a good environment.”
