Support of KRW 1.5 billion for the next 5 years, fostering experts in waste-to-energy technology

Chungnam National University (President Jin-Sook Lee) Graduate School of Environmental Engineering has been selected as the ‘Specialized Graduate School for Waste-to-Energy Conversion’ supported by the Ministry of Environment and supervised by the Korea Environment Corporation to nurture experts in waste-to-energy technology.

While the Korea Environment Corporation recently selected and announced the '4th stage of the combustible waste-to-energy specialized graduate school project', the Department of Environmental Engineering at the Graduate School of Chungnam National University was selected.

In accordance with this graduate school project specializing in waste-to-energy conversion, the Department of Environmental Engineering will invest a total of KRW 1.5 billion for the next five years from April 2022 to foster professional manpower through the 'Combustible Waste-to-Energy Specialized Graduate School Project Team.

In this regard, the Department of Environmental Engineering at the graduate school has been nurturing experts in the waste-to-energy technology sector that meets local needs with a total government budget of 2.7 billion won from the first phase of the project started in 2012, and has led active industry-university cooperation. The project selection has accelerated the training of waste-to-energy specialists.

Jang Yong-chul, head of the department, said, "We have been trying to foster professionals to meet local demand through the waste resource energy specialization graduate project that started in 2012."
